American Authorities Report Arrests in Disrupted New Year's Eve Explosive Plot Outside LA
Federal agents announced on Monday that they had successfully thwarted a detailed scheme to detonate explosive devices at multiple locations run by two American businesses on New Year's Eve in Southern California. The move resulted from the apprehension of suspects part of an extremist offshoot advocating for anti-capitalist and anti-authority ideologies.
Individuals Detained During Desert Rehearsal
A quartet of suspects were detained last Friday in the Mojave Desert located east of Los Angeles while they were according to officials rehearsing their proposed strike. Federal attorneys displayed aerial monitoring video to the media, which captured the suspects moving a sizeable dark device to a table. Authorities emphasized that the detainments occurred prior to the suspects could construct a working bomb.
Identities of the Accused Made Public
Based on the submitted criminal complaint, the four suspects listed are a 30-year-old named Audrey Illeene Carroll; Zachary Aaron Page, 32; Gaffield, 24; and Lai, 41. All four are understood to be from the Los Angeles area.
Reported Motivation and Ties
Although authorities did not clearly describe a motive, they indicated the suspects are part of a faction called the Turtle Island Liberation Front. This organization according to documents urges "workers to revolt and resist against corporate power," according to the legal filing.

Details of the Alleged "Operation Midnight Sun"
Prosecutors revealed that one of the accused had created a step-by-step plan last month to attack at least five business locations across Southern California on New Year's Eve. The targets were likened to "Amazon-type" distribution warehouses.
"This scheme was detailed," the attorney remarked. "It included step-by-step instructions to build IEDs … and named several targets across the county of Orange and Los Angeles."
According to the probe and the complaint, the plan entailed planting backpacks filled with sophisticated IEDs that were planned to be exploded simultaneously at midnight on New Year's Eve at several places. New Year's Eve was chosen as an perfect time since the document stated "celebratory explosions will be going off at this time so detonations will be harder to be noticed."
The eight-page longhand blueprint, called "OPERATION MIDNIGHT SUN," stated that more locations could be added. The sites were described as property and facilities operated by two different corporations involved in activities involving interstate and foreign commerce.

Authorities moved in last week while the individuals were rehearsing the strike in the remote area near a desert community. "They possessed all the components they needed to make an working bomb at that place," an official said.
