England's Coach Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's last Test match for the Kiwis was against England in the final month of 2024.
England's bowling consultant Tim Southee is still working through the extent of his role will be at the upcoming Ashes series in the host nation.
The ex- Kiwi seamer is expected to be available for the first Test because of his involvement in the International League T20 tournament, which begins on December 2 in the UAE.
Southee, aged 36, assumed a role as England's fast bowling consultant in the warmer months after claiming 391 wickets in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Speaking as England's team for the first of three Twenty20 games against the Kiwis was named, Southee stated of his participation: "We are still evaluating that at the moment.
"We will determine the outcome over the coming days."
England pace icon Stuart Broad had stated the Australian side as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over what to expect during the series, which begins on 21 November.
"In my view there's at any time a bad Aussie side," he remarked.
"Our focus is squarely on our own objectives. In my opinion the caliber of [England's] team that's going out to Australia is brilliant.
"It ought to be an absolute cracker, the Ashes. Not just [are|do] English and Australian people looking forward to it, I think the entire cricketing community is."
However, before the English team head to Perth for the opening Ashes Test, they face New Zealand in Christchurch on Saturday.
