Ex- Doctor Charged with Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients

Prosecutors report that a former doctor now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

The Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

A senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

The Investigation

The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

List of Charges

Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
  • 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
  • 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police have asked anyone with concerns to get in touch with the relevant police force.
