Shock as Beloved South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the country's largest city Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country grappling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was attacked in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old presenter was accosted by three suspects, one of whom opened fire on him before running away.
The reason of the shooting remains unclear and no suspects have been apprehended are in custody, as per the official statement.
The Fatal Incident
Police said that Stock was targeted as he was departing from a location in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the site overseeing the setup of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by unidentified individuals, according to reports.
"The report indicates the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," an official report stated.
CCTV footage reportedly depicted a man with dreadlocks and clad in what resembled a guard's attire opening fire on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but collapsed across the street.
Officials noted that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the incident.
Important clues, like cartridges, were discovered at the location.

Police have appealed members of the public who may have seen the suspects to assist with the investigation.
"We know they covered significant ground after the attack, and investigators have been attempting to locate them to establish their whereabouts," remarked an authority figure.
Outpouring of Grief
His family member, Nicole Stock, stated the relatives are devastated to process his death.
"Words fail me. I cannot express the pain," were her words.
"Everyone understood he was a voice for many people. He addressed issues courageously about topics not many people were willing to speak about. This is a devastating blow."
She urged the citizens to refrain from sharing disturbing footage from the scene, saying this was an incredibly difficult time, particularly for Stock's children.

Stock was the star of Ngicel' iVisa, a series that premiered on a South African broadcasting platform.
Beyond his media career, Stock was involved in various business ventures, including protective services, offering elite guarding services and protecting high-profile events across South Africa.
He was also said to be engaged in property management and was involved in tenant removals.

His killing has caused national trauma and prompted an outpouring of tributes from his fans, the government and political parties.
A government minister said he was furious and grief-stricken by Stock's untimely death.
"He was forthright boldly and honestly. He even challenged me and my actions as a minister. He was a true embodiment of who we must aspire to be," was his tribute.
A public representative stated the "shocking killing of DJ Warras in the middle of the day is a trauma for all South Africans".
A industry leader noted that "Stock was not merely a face of a reality series. He was a skilled narrator, a true devotee of sound and a kind-hearted individual who brought joy and energy to every moment on screen. His commitment to his craft left an lasting impression."
In a statement, the network he worked for declared Stock was known for his presence, warmth and quick humor, adding that his legacy "will live on".
