The Hit Drama Confirmed for 7th Season on the British Broadcaster
The acclaimed police drama AC-12 is officially returning for its 7th installment, announced by the BBC.
A brand new six-part season written by the show's creator will begin filming in Northern Ireland in the coming months, as confirmed by the production team.
The actress expressed excitement about the comeback, stating she was "thrilled" about the show's renewal. Adrian Dunbar remarked, "What a joy it is to know that the main trio will be back filming together soon."
The previous series concluded in recent years with a final episode that attracted more than 17 million viewers. Rumors about a new season have been widespread ever since, but confirmation only arrived this week.
Fresh Obstacles for AC-12
Series seven will open with AC-12 having been disbanded and renamed as the Inspectorate of Police Standards, as revealed by the announcement.
Steve Arnott, Vicky McClure's role, and Adrian Dunbar's part remain working to tackle misconduct within the police force.
The team's mission "faces unprecedented challenges", and under these circumstances, the trio will take on their "most delicate case to date."
New Character and Intricate Plot
An additional officer, DI Dominic Gough, portrayed as a charming officer celebrated for takedowns of organized crime, is accused of misusing his authority to act as a offender.
However, this investigation could be a deliberate distraction from a bigger threat still active in the shadows, the teaser hinted.
Speaking about the renewal, Jed Mercurio commented: "All cast and crew feels enormous gratitude to the dedicated viewers."
"We're privileged to have had so many fans track the developments of the unit over multiple series and we couldn't be more delighted to be coming back for a seventh installment."

Series Legacy
The drama launched in 2012 and became a highly successful TV dramas of the past ten years, featuring guest stars such as Kelly Macdonald.
Broadcasters has not yet announced exactly the upcoming series will hit screens.
The conclusion of series six drew the extended plot about the hunt for criminal mastermind known as "H" to a conclusion, and producers said at the moment there were no plans for additional seasons.
Nevertheless, the network confirmed on Tuesday that a seventh series is now being produced.
