President Donald Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the relatives of a National Guard member fatally shot last week to attend the presidential home.

He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were “deeply grieving”.

Information on the Tragic Event

US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a violent incident on Wednesday in DC.

Her colleague, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in grave state.

Gatherings across the state have been held in their honor.

Presidential Invitation

The president explained he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both members of the state Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize Sarah,” the president informed journalists. “And similarly with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Reaction

Mourners gathered over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both they had been fulfilling duties with the military unit as part of Trump’s federal initiative to assist law enforcement in the capital.

Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the kind of student that educators hoped for. She behaved with quiet strength, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that lifted those around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the media. “She was kind, considerate and always eager to support those in need.”

Service arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Policy Changes

Authorities have indicted a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of homicide and two counts of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The tragedy caused the administration to suspend refugee claims and halt issuing visas to possessors of Afghan passports.

Condition of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi stated on Fox News Sunday that she aimed to speak to the family.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in 2023 and began her service not long after, working as a military police officer with excellence, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had bravery,” the governor addressed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her time ended too soon, she has created a legacy that’s going to be remembered always.”
